YEAR 2010

Contemporary Australian indigenous artist Brook Andrew has developed this artwork concept for the 17th Biennale of Sydney to be held on Sydney’s Cockatoo Island from 12 May – 1 August. The 7 metre square inflatable jumping castle is decorated with patterns based on Wiradjuri design, a distinctive feature in Andrew’s extensive body of work. Towering over those who choose to interact with the work, stands a 3 metre tall male figure with arms outstretched.

The Biennale, titled “The Beauty of Distance, Songs of Survival in a Precarious Age” features work from over 50 Australian and International artists including Fiona Foley and Chinese born New York based Cai-Guo Quang.
